welcome

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Directors of The Alliance for Vision Research, welcome to the official website of the 9th annual A Night For Sight Charity Wine Auction.  Please plan to join us as we return to the Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn on Saturday May 22, 2010.

This year we continue our theme of “Vision for the Future”, so beautifully represented in the print of children in the vineyard that has been so caringly expressed by the image on this year’s invitation and catalog. The generosity of Corinne Reichel of Rivervine Press, the publisher of “The Grapes Grow Sweet” and of Lynne Tuft, whose story and illustrations are so precious have enabled us to use the artwork.

This print and the entire event represent a hope for the future for the visually impaired. Both support our desire to fulfill the mission of the Alliance for Vision Research: to restore, preserve and improve vision, primarily in children.

Last year the Alliance was able to fund 22 research projects and/or local organizations which directly aid the visually impaired.

Our Honorary Vintners this year are Vietti Winery of Piemonte, Italy and Bob Egelhoff of Egelhoff Wines and Gus Kalaris of Axios Winery, both of Napa Valley.   We thank them for taking time from their busy schedules to travel here and for their generosity in supporting our charity.

Our Chairpersons this year are John and Nancy Vesper of Clinton Township and Dr. Kevin and Rhonda Waltz of Indianapolis.  Their support and endorsement of this year’s function are greatly appreciated.

We thank the area wine distributors, retailers and others in their field for an amazing effort in helping plan and organize the event, logistic support, access to the wine world and to superb volunteer support.

Once again we will begin our weekend with  Vintner dinners preceding the event.  Thanks to Leet and Patsy Denton, John and Nancy Vesper, and Dr. Geoffrey and Benora Gladstone for agreeing to open their homes to our Patron Level attendees.

Enjoy the evening!
