In 2010, the Alliance for Vision Research, Inc. awarded nearly $120,000 in grants from monies raised from the 2010 “A Night for Sight” charity wine auction.
Among those receiving grants for vision-related research projects were:
• Henry Ford Health System
• The Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center
• Vision Research Foundation (affiliated with Beaumont Hospital)
• Kellogg Eye Center of the University of Michigan
Among those receiving grants for direct support to children and families with visual impairment were:
• Penrickton Center for Blind Children
• The Holley Institute (affiliated with St. John Health System)
• The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology
• Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation
• Henry Ford Center for Visual Rehabilitation
Since 1992, the Alliance for Vision Research has provided nearly $1 million in essential funding for over 60 Metro area vision-preserving research projects and/or to local organizations, which directly aid the visually impaired. These institutions directly reflect the Alliance's mission to restore, preserve, and improve vision, primarily in children.
