Beneficiaries
In 2009, the Alliance for Vision Research, Inc. awarded nearly $140,000 in grants from monies raised from the 2009 “A Night for Sight” charity wine auction. Awards were presented on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at a ceremony held at Da Edoardo’s in Grosse Pointe.
Among those receiving grants for vision-related research projects were:
• Henry Ford Health System
• The Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center
• Vision Research Foundation (affiliated with Beaumont Hospital)
• Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology
Among those receiving grants for direct support to children and families with visual impairment were:
• Michigan Lions Project Kidsight
• Penrickton Center for Blind Children
• The Holley Institute (affiliated with St. John Health System)
• ROPARD
• Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation
• Henry Ford Center for Visual Rehabilitation
Since 1992, the Alliance for Vision Research has provided essential funding for over 60 Metro area vision-preserving research projects and/or to local organizations, which directly aid the visually impaired. These institutions directly reflect the Alliance's mission to restore, preserve, and improve vision, primarily in children.
